Iran Muscular Dystrophy Association ( IMDA ) is a self-help organization formed in November 2004. It is committed to uplift the lives of people with Muscular Dystrophy.
Muscular Dystrophy is the name given to a large group of muscle diseases characterized by the development of muscle weakness, wasting and contractures, that are usually progressive and sometimes life threatening. These diseases often manifest in childhood, although some begin in adulthood. Most, if not all, are caused by a large variety of inherited gene abnormalities. At present, there is no cure for Muscular Dystrophy.
Iran MDA understands the challenges faced by people with Muscular Dystrophy and their families. Iran MDA extends its membership privileges to all children, youth and adults with Muscular Dystrophy as well as their families.
